In Scotland the law mandates that all age verification policies must be based on checking the age of anyone who looks under 25 – or such older age as the retailer may decide.
In England and Wales licensed retailers can either use Check 21 or Check 25, although most off-licence premises base age verification on 25, whilst the majority of on sale premises, such as pubs, base it on 21.
