Course overview
The training course will provide each delegate with a clear understanding of the framework of law and regulation that underpins the responsibilities of the Personal Licence Holder. This will include:

What is a Personal Licence?
It is a licence granted to a person that entitles that person to authorise sales of alcohol from any premises (pub, bar, restaurant, off licence etc..) with a Premises Licence.

What do I need to do to become a Personal Licence holder?
You need first of all to sit the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) course and pass the test at the end of it. Then you will need to apply for a criminal records check and complete and return your Personal Licence application form to your local council. You should note that anyone with an unspent, relevant criminal offence will have their licence application rejected.

How long does a Personal Licence last?
A Personal Licence lasts for 10 years.

How much does a Premises and Personal Licence cost?
A Personal Licence application at present costs £37.00. You will also need to pay for a criminal records check. If you do this online via Disclosure Scotland it will cost £22.00.
