What is the RIPH Level 2 Foundation Course in Food safety?
The Royal Institute of Public Health has designed a foundation course to give first level workers an appreciation of the fundamentals of good practice in food hygiene.
Who should take this qualification?
Anyone in a job role involving the cooking, preparation or serving of food.
What will I learn?
The syllabus in modules A to G, reflects the content of the RIPH food safety options programme.

- Premises, Equipment and Pest Control
- Cleaning and Disinfection
- Legislation
How do I gain the qualification?
By sitting a six hour programme of study and completing a short multiple-choice test.
Accreditation
The awarding body for the qualification is the Royal Institute of Public Health.
Levels 3 and 4
Level 3 - the intermediate qualification - is designed principally for those who are, or who intend to be, supervisors or managers of food handlers.
Level 4 - the advanced qualification - is designed principally for those who are senior staff and managers of food handlers in a food business
