Training - Case Studies

The Latin Quarter, Birkenhead
Gary Sandland, owner of Birkenhead nightclub, The Latin Quarter, has recently asked his team to take part in CPL's underage sales prevention course.
"CPL now offers the Goal Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention, a qualification that has been developed to assist bar, counter and sales staff to understand the laws and regulations in relation to age-restricted products, prevent unlawful sales of those products."
CPL carried out a one-day training session on-site with all bar staff and door supervisors taking part.
Gary commented: "The Latin Quarter is a really busy late night venue that attracts a crowd whose age range varies from 18-30. Underage admission sales and entrance has long been a problem within the wider industry and one which all licensees have to face on a daily basis.
"With little support or guidance on how to approach the issue of underage sales in the past, I felt that the CPL course offered an excellent opportunity to provide my team with the necessary skills to help them to deal with this."
"The advent of test purchasing continues to cause great concern within the industry. We are now very aware of the need to document and demonstrate evidence of due diligence in our daily operations."
"The course was delivered in a very clear and concise manner and there was much interaction between the trainer and our team throughout. Feedback has been very positive since the training took place and the handbook has been a useful point of reference for us all."
"Since the team took part in the course I have recognised a noticeable improvement in the attitude of my staff when dealing with the issues surrounding underage sales. By providing them with specific skills, they are able to deal with customers using a confident and firm approach that derives from the knowledge and experience gained."
