David initially qualified as a Barrister and took up a position as a Lawyer in a Solicitors Practice, specialising in Licensing Law. Having decided upon a career in a Solicitors’ Practice, David qualified as a Solicitor and is thus qualified both as a Solicitor and a Barrister.
David’s current position is at the Billericay office specialising in Licensing and Planning and all other regulatory matters.
As well as experience gained as a Solicitor, David also has experience gained as a Councillor and a Chairman of the Licensing Committee of one of the country’s largest District Councils. This experience has given David a unique and invaluable insight into the matters that Licensing Committees look to when considering both applications for new licenses as well as extensions and applications for review. This experience enables David to give not only the most detailed technical advice to clients, but also the most pragmatic advice to assist and best represent the client before Licensing Committees. David also acts for Local Authorities in defending appeals and prosecuting for offences under the Licensing Act 2003.
David has appeared before Licensing Committees the length and breadth of England and Wales to represent clients who wish to take advantage of his unique combination of technical knowledge and pragmatic know-how. David has also appeared before Scottish committees.
David is able to represent clients from making the simplest application to the most complex and demanding of reviews or appeals.
