Course Overview

Award in Security Guarding Level 2

To work in the private security industry you must hold a licence granted by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Working without an SIA licence is a criminal offence. Before applying for your SIA licence you must first gain this qualification.

To be granted this licence an applicant must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass the SIA’s criminality criteria
  • Hold a recognised security guard’s qualification- the level 2 Award in Security Guarding

This 3 day course is for anyone who provides or carries out contracted security activities as defined by the Security Industry Act 2001.

Course Content

The Level 2 Award in Security Guarding is a legal requirement for any person applying for an SIA security guarding licence. The course takes three days to complete and consists of the following elements:
